Uniform
What is the power of the collective in this era of individualism and self-development?
What is the power of the collective in this era of individualism and self-development? Fascinated by the phenomenon of folk dancing, in this dance performance Nastaran Razawi Khorasani asks how modern people give form and content to feelings of solidarity. Four individuals attempt to shed their own identity and blend in with the crowd. The everyday actions of the four slowly flow into a folk dance. Can they forget themselves?
Uniform premiered at the Oerol festival 2018.
Nastaran: “We live in a highly individualized world and are constantly concerned with who we are and what our opinion is. That is really something of this time. I admire people who dare to forget themselves and can completely immerse themselves in a group. In Uniform we make an attempt to show the aversion to the ego.”
